IN recognition of Women’s Month, Port Shepstone Regional Hospital offered free health screening to more than 30 women at Illovo Sugar last Thursday.
Hospital spokesperson Phumza Morai said this was done in recognition of women who go through a lot of stress as they strive to keep their families together.
The women were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index, voluntary counselling and testing, pap smear, family planning, tuberculosis and eye screening. “The nursing team on the campaign checked the women’s coping skills at work and at home in order to identify any risk factors,” said Morai.
Three women were referred for mental health management, nine were referred for family planning and nine pap smears were done.
If anyone would like the hospital staff to come to their place of work to do screenings for a large group, they can contact Matron Risha Pillay on 039 688 6000. – Supplied.
