MORE than 60 youths from all over the South Coast gathered at the Uvongo Community Hall on Saturday to audition for an upcoming educational comedy that will be shooting locally in a few weeks.
The auditions were organised by ArtWay Productions, in partnership with Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
Phumlani Khusi of ArtWay Productions, originally from Gcilima, said he was excited about the project.
“The municipality partnered with Thulani Bhengu from Gamalakhe and me to shoot the comedy. The storyline will be educational, creating awareness about the role of political leadership, councillors and their responsibilities,” said Khusi.
He said they came up with the idea of the comedy following many misconceptions about the duties of councillors.
The adjudication panel for the audition comprised Gamalakhe councillor Phumlani Gumbi, actress Nompilo Maphumulo, who plays Nosipho Xulu on SABC 1 drama Uzalo, Andile Mxaka, “Fezile” from Mzansi Magic’s Isibaya, Simon April, Lloyd Monyakane and Khulekani Zulu.
