THERE’S a new face at the Hibiscus Mall in Margate and she can’t wait to meet new and regular shoppers.

Alice Brandsma took the reins as manager three weeks ago and says she is enjoying her new position.

“I’m a people person. I’ve been involved in property management for over 20 years and managing a mall isn’t that different. It’s what I love doing,” she said.

Brandsma moved to the South Coast from Durban in 1984 and loves it so much that even a job in Cape Town could not stop her from returning.

“I moved to Cape Town recently for a while, but I didn’t like it. It’s great for a holiday, but it’s not somewhere I would like to live.”

She has qualifications in property management and industrial psychology and lives in Ramsgate in a home which she swears has “the best view of the ocean”.

“I love the sea. Taking long walks on the beach is the ultimate relaxation technique for me.”

Brandsma also enjoys socialising and eating out, but won’t say no to a quiet day indoors, curled up with a good book.

“Ayn Rand is my favourite author. I love reading philosophies and auto-biographies.”

She said customers have a lot to look forward to this year when shopping at the mall.

“I can’t give away any information, but there will be changes.”

She encouraged everyone to eat, shop or even just window shop at the mall and to visit their Facebook page - Hibiscus Mall - for promotions and events.
