MARIS STELLA Primary School in Port Shepstone came up tops in a reading competition when they competed with various schools from all across the district recently.

At the competition, held at the Department of Education District Offices on September 6, the school won first position thanks to their four participating pupils and school librarian Bawinile Venter.

Venter said winning the competition was a proud moment for their team.

“The school is very proud of its teachers’ commitment and pupils’ hard work in the Reading Programme, especially after the donation of a school library by Rossmin mine at Oshabeni,” said Venter.

They will be representing the district at a provincial level today (September 20) in Durban, with hopes of bringing home the provincial title.
