A tribute to my wife

PREMIELA Singh (aka Premie) was born in Stanger to the late Mr and Mrs Ramsumer Singh and was the youngest of the four siblings.

At a young age she took a keen interest in religion and culture.

During her schooling career she was interested in gymnastics and represented Stanger Manor Secondary School in the Natal championships where she was placed fourth in Natal. After matriculating in 1986 from Stanger Manor Secondary she began her career as a sales assistant.

In 1993 she met Pranil Singh from Newcastle who became her life partner. The following year they married and Newcastle became her new home. Premie spent many years at home raising her daughter Leesha into a fine young teenager.

Her passion and desire of studying Riekie - crystal healing - and running her own business then materialised.

In 2009 she established her business, Newcastle Spice and Gift Centre.

She managed her business until 2012, however, when she was diagnosed with cancer she gave up her business and during this period spent most of her time undergoing treatment in Durban.

She was a very positive lady, a fighter and she challenged her illness and fought the battle until she was called to rest on the 11 January 2016.

Her death has left a void in the community of Newcastle, Durban and Stanger.

She touched the hearts of many people, always had a smile on her face and a caring nature. Thanks to the wonderful family he married into, Leesha and Pranil have had unwavering support in their time of bereavement.

Premie leaves behind her husband Pranil, daughter Leesha, siblings Daynand, Shirley and Rabin and a host of family and friends.

In honour of his wife, Pranil would like to donate a wheelchair and portable phlegm suction unit to a person in need. Interested persons can contact Pranil on 083 304 0136 or Selvi on 084 433 1424.
