The Eastern Cape Film Forum and its partners enters this year with a renewed commitment to push even further for the growth and development of the filmmaking industry in the province.
“With the stature of the South African films gradually receiving long overdue global attention, it is critical to ensure that local film makers do not miss this wave of growth in the industry, notwithstanding the hurdles that are still there,” said Nceba Mqolomba, convener: Eastern Cape Film Forum.
As part of this resolve, the Eastern Cape Film Forum will be hosting its first session of the year with local filmmakers, tomorrow at the Nelson Mandela Bay Science & Technology Centre in Uitenhage from 09:00-17:00.
Feature film: Troopship Tragedy
The feature film to be screened “Troopship Tragedy” is by local filmmaker Zwai Mgijima telling the story of the sinking of the Mendi, where 646 black soldiers passed away during the tragic accident in 1917.
