ADDO is synonymous with elephants and roses. In celebration of the smaller of the two, the third Addo Rose Fayre will be held in the scenic Sunday’s River Valley on Saturday, October 12.
The Valentine Hall, where the festive event will be held, for decades hosted the Addo Rose Day which, in keeping up with changing times, evolved into the Fayre.
All of the roses, as well as decor in the renowned Rose Café, come from the gardens of the ladies from the Sunday’s River Valley.
What is more, it is the same ladies that produce all of the delicious food and treats that will be served at the Café.
The artwork and rose wall have also been created by a local artist.
Apart from the beautiful roses, there will be live music, performed by Belle and the Beard and a local pianist, Freddie, who will accompany Kobus and Gerhard as they belt out some lunchtime songs.
Other activities of the day include a garden tour, visiting local farm gardens, Bridge Street Brewery with its craft beers, craft gin and very own brandy; Habata Wines stall; Hermitage House’s Farmers’ Market; as well as a kiddies corner.
The event offers a tranquil escape to the gorgeous countryside to view exquisite roses, enjoy good food and to mingle with the friendly locals. The gates of the Valentine Hall in Addo are open from 09:00 to 14:00. – REPORTER
