A man accused of house robbery, house breaking and theft in KwaNobuhle, was sentenced effectively to 21 years imprisonment.
This follows the dedication and commitment portrayed by detectives from Kwa-Nobuhle police station who traced and arrested the accused, Msokoli Mabula Jonas (45).
He committed a house robbery (3 May 2016) at a residence in Mgolodela Street, KwaNobuhle. The accused stole cash, cellphones and groceries. He was arrested on 26 February 2018. On Tuesday, 1 October 2019, the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court sentenced Jonas to 18 years imprisonment on a charge of house robbery and three years imprisonment on a charge of house breaking and theft. The sentences will not run concurrently.
Acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll praised the investigating officer, detective const Nyaniso Zinto for the effective and proficient manner in which he performed his investigations.
“This conviction and the lengthy sentence meted out by our courts, are as a result of thorough investigations done by our detectives, who gathered all relevant evidence to successfully identify and link the offender to the crime,” said Brigadier Koll.
