Motorists travelling along Durban Road in Uitenhage might ask themselves the question, what makes businessmen spend millions on expanding, with the Rand escalating to new high levels against other currencies in this uncertain political climate.

Surely, the answer to this question, can only be a demand for its products.

“The expansion of Cuyler Butchery in Uitenhage did not happen overnight,” says Leon Slabbert, owner of this dynamic enterprise.

“I started off 27 years ago as a smalltime butchery in Uitenhage. During that period we went through difficult times with tough competition, an uncertain political situation and economic instability.

“However, we always believed that through quality, consistency and competitive pricing we could grow our business. During the last number of years we came to the conclusion that by the ever increasing demand and lack of space, we needed to expand to make the shopping experience a pleasant experience for all our customers.

“We also expanded our original concept of smalltime butchery into various sub companies. Supplying our meat products directly to the public and governmental organisations, restaurants and deli shops, we believe the success of the Cuyler Group is largely due to the supply of quality meat products at competitive prices and the friendliness and willingness of our staff to serve,” said Slabbert.

With the expansion of Cuyler Butchery, customers will now be able to shop in a modern upmarket facility that will be stocked with products across the complete price spectrum.
