Schools to win thousands with old telephone directories

“Let your fingers do the walking ...” that is if you are searching for contact numbers in the yellow pages, but what do you do with an outdated telephone directory?

Chuck it in the dust bin? No! There is an array of useful creative ideas. Just browse through Pinterest and you will be amazed, apart from using it to press flowers, ripen fruit, fire starters, compost, it is a very useful craft item.

But, this biodegradable tool of contact numbers can earn schools thousands of rands with the Trudon White and Yellow pages Recycling Drive!

Schools in the Despatch, Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth areas are invited to participate in the drive.

What to win

Those collecting the highest tonnage of directories will win resources to the value of R5 000 (winning school), with R3 000 as second prize and R2 000 third prize.

Individuals who collect 200 books or more will be awarded vouchers.

The campaign runs from January 18th until February 5th.

The Waste Takers will collect and weigh books weekly from participating schools.

VTo be eligible for taking part schools must collect a minimum of 1 000 books

VSchools will receive a tree which will be planted at the closing of the competition

VIndividuals collecting 200 or more books will receive a voucher
