1 injured in Durban shopping mall shootout

Durban – A shootout between a civilian and armed robbers at the Pavilion Shopping Mall in Durban has left one person injured.

"We can confirm a shooting took place at the parking lot of a mall in Durban. It appears the suspects tried to rob someone at the parking.

"A civilian shot at the suspects and the suspects retaliated. As a result, another civilian was shot and wounded," police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane told News24 shortly after the incident occurred.

Zwane said the suspects had fled the scene.
