An alleged Durban gang member has been arrested, driving a vehicle with bullet holes from a police chase.
Police officers arrested the suspect along Ansteys Beach on the Bluff on Sunday evening, after a tip-off, said police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
"Police received information about a vehicle with bullet holes at the back driving around the Bluff area and proceeded to the identified location. The said vehicle was stopped and a search was conducted. During the search, the suspect was found in illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and nine rounds of ammunition," Mbele said.
It was established that the bullet holes were from a previous police chase.
The 21-year-old suspect was arrested.
Police have since established he is out on bail for another case and faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, possession of firearm and ammunition.
