Baby run over in driveway fights for his life

Durban - A baby boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being crushed by a reversing car in a driveway in Kwa Ximba, Cato Ridge, on Monday.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said that medics had rushed to the aid of the 18-month-old boy after he had been taken to a local clinic.

"Paramedics were contacted and, upon arrival at the clinic, they found nurses attending to the baby. It was found that the child sustained severe injuries," she said.

Medics made a call to have the boy airlifted.

"An Air Mercy Service helicopter was activated and the child was taken to a local hospital for further medical care. The exact details surrounding the incident are unknown and subject to an investigation," she said.
