Pressure is mounting from within the SA Communist Party for general-secretary Blade Nzimande to respond to allegations by UDM leader Bantu Holomisa of improper political interference in the Department of Higher Education and Training.
Concerns surfaced at the party’s augmented central committee meeting over the weekend when Nzimande was asked during the meeting why he had not responded to Holomisa’s accusations that political interference had led to irregular expenditure.
"There were some comrades who were basically saying that there are these allegations, and we are concerned about these allegations because they will affect the party," a delegate who had attended the meeting said.
