Cape Town crashes cause rush hour delays

Cape Town – Motorists driving into Cape Town on Thursday morning had their patience tested as a number of accidents caused major delays.

A car overturned on the N2 at Liesbeek Parkway at 7am, obstructing the right lane, city traffic services spokesperson Maxine Jordaan said.

Thirty minutes later, a car crashed near Borcherds Quarry, closing traffic in both directions.

A bus and minibus taxi were involved in a head-on collision at the nearby New Eisleben Road in Nyanga. Jordaan said three people were seriously injured and seven slightly injured. The roadway was cleared at 8:40am.

Five vehicles were involved in an accident on the corner of Strand and Adderley streets in central Cape Town. No one was injured.
