Cops monitor scene of Cape protest action

Johannesburg - Cape Town police were on Wednesday monitoring the N2 highway around the Borcherds Quarry following reports of protest action in the area.

"We have deployed our members to the scene but there is nobody there right now. They just found some burning tyres," said Captain FC van Wyk.

The circumstances around the earlier protest action were not immediately clear.

@CapeTownFreeway tweeted that there were road closures in the area and urged motorists to to use alternative routes.
