Cape Town – Five men were arrested in Somerset West for their alleged role in various business robberies and cash-in-transit heists, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.
Officers on Tuesday received information on four of the alleged robbers in a blue BMW, Captain Frederick van Wyk said.
A crime prevention patrol unit spotted the empty car outside a post office in the central business area of Somerset West.
A few minutes later, five people returned to the car and were arrested.
"Four of the robbers are linked to business robberies of cellphone shops and one ATM bombing in Bellville, Cape Town, Malmesbury, Brackenfell and Somerset West," Van Wyk said.
One of the men had a warrant of arrest for seven different cases in Stellenbosch and in Gauteng.
