Bloemfontein - A 28-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly raped his 16-year-old cousin at their home in Matlakeng location, Zastron, Free State police said.
Thabo Mabote appeared in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of rape, Sergeant Yanga Ngcukana said.
Ngcukana said the man allegedly raped the teenage girl on Sunday evening.
“At the time of the incident, the victim’s 20-year-old sister was away for the weekend when the suspect took advantage of the victim,” he said.
Mabote was expected to appear again in court on August 17 for a formal bail application and to seek legal aid, said Ngcukana.
