An Ethiopian shopkeeper was shot dead during a robbery at his spaza shop on Saturday.
According to Free State police spokesperson Colonel Thandi Mbambo, three unknown men stormed into the shop in Mashaeng in Fouriesburg at about 20:45.
"One suspect, who was armed with a firearm, threatened the shopkeeper, Temsegel Tadsse Jomole, 32, and forced him into the bedroom, where he allegedly shot and killed him.
"He then came out, allegedly carrying a bag suspected to [have contained] money. The other two suspects stole the money that was in the counter, then they all fled on foot, firing shots randomly in the street."
One of the suspects was later found dead with gunshot wounds to his back next to the R26. It is not yet known who shot and killed him, Mbambo said.
The other two suspects are still at large and anyone with information about their whereabouts should contact Detective Warrant Officer Aaron Khoza at 082 466 7649 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Alternatively, information can be sent via the My SAPS app.
