Durban – A gardener is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly killing a 65-year-old man, police said on Friday.
The 67-year-old gardener was arrested on Thursday following the murder of Nadarajan Nayager at his home on Orient Drive, Isipingo, the previous day, Major Thulani Zwane said.
"His hands were tied and had multiple injuries on his body."
It was believed Nayager had an argument with his gardener, who allegedly tied him up and beat him to death before fleeing with his cellphone.
He was arrested in Malakazi, near Isipingo, and Nayager's cellphone was recovered.
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the police for the speedy arrest.
