Johannesburg - A radio signal has been detected from a star system situated 94 light years away from Earth, which could be a sign of beings existing on another planet.
The announcement was made by a group of Russian astronomers a few days ago and has raised questions about whether there was life on another planet in another solar system.
The radio signal was interpreted as coming from a star system called HD 164595.

According to the South African Astronomical Observatory’s outreach astronomer Dr Tana Joseph, HD 164595’s solar system was known to have one planet orbiting a star roughly the same size and brightness as the sun.
The group of astronomers said they made the discovery in May 2015, but only made the announcement public a few days ago.
The amount of time that had passed complicated efforts by other astronomers to follow up on the detection.
The Search for Extraterrestial Intelligence Institute used a radio telescope in California to do follow up observations on HD 164595 over the last two days.
“They have not been able to confirm the original detection,” Joseph said.
“So for now, although this signal is interesting, we certainly cannot say that the signal came from beings from another planet.”
