The Rosebank Mall in Johannesburg evacuated shoppers, tenants and staff members following a second bomb scare on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello confirmed the mall had received yet another bomb threat.

"At the moment, it cannot be confirmed if there is an actual bomb, but all role-players are at the scene to assess the situation," Sello said.

On its social media page, the mall said: "We have been approached with a threat and local authorities have requested that we evacuate the mall as of 4:50pm today, 21 October 2021. We will update you as soon as the mall is open and it is safe to re-enter. Thank you."

Bath Avenue has also since been closed.

This is the second bomb threat to be reported at the mall this week.

On Tuesday morning, the mall received a bomb threat, but the police were unable to confirm whether there had indeed been a threat or not.
