Limpopo police are on the hunt for two people who allegedly shot and killed a man and a woman near Burgersfort.

Police officers in Tubatse were called on Tuesday at around 22:30 after the woman's brother heard gunshots.

"It is alleged that the woman's brother was woken up by gunshots and rushed to her room, where he found the lifeless bodies of the deceased lying in a pool of blood. The assailants had already fled the scene," police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.

The victims were identified as Julendah Nkomo, 29, and Rolly Magabe, 40.

"Police and medical emergency personnel were summoned and upon arrival the two victims were certified dead on the scene. Police investigations and a manhunt for the suspects were then activated," Ngoepe said.

The motive for the murders was still unknown, Ngoepe added.

He urged anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or Detective Sergeant Cedrick Rapepe on 073 477 8716.
