Hogan says certain NEC party members were very nasty to her at meetings and she was cast as "anti-transformation".
Hogan says she expected Zuma to protect her, and back up her decisions, but "the president hung me out to dry".

Zondo asks Hogan if she knows whether or not those Cabinet members knew that there was a selection process that had to be followed, and that a successful black candidate had already been put forward.
Hogan says she's not sure, but she had attempted to make them aware of Maseko as a successful candidate, but they were lobbying for Gama to be appointed, and no one else. Zuma also continued to insist on Gama.

Hogan says she was "targeted" in certain media articles, for her opposition to Gama's appointment. Hogan says former acting CEO Chris Wells was also targeted, along with other members of the Transnet board.

Hogan says the ANC, SACP and ANCYL (led by Julius Malema at the time) had all issued statements in support of Gama, claiming he was being persecuted.
Hogan now reading excerpts from newspaper articles published around the time of Gama's suspension.

Hogan says the memo recommending Maseko had been withdrawn by the Cabinet secretary, on Zuma's instruction. Zuma also then asked Hogan for three names to be put forward for the position of chairperson of the Transnet board, as Fred Phaswana had left.

Hogan says she asked Gordhan for help in accessing documents to prepare for the commission, but it became apparent that her documents had been tampered with and she could not access her emails... they had disappeared from the server.

Hogan now on the topic of Gama's "problematic" tenders, the first of which was a new locomotive deal, which Gama signed off without backing from the board.
Hogan says South Africa had train manufacturing capability and the board had tried to bring locomotive work in-house, but Gama outsourced this work.
