A 30-year-old Free State man has appeared in court for allegedly attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend's teenage sister.
Vusi Radebe appeared in the Bethlehem Magistrate's Court on Friday for allegedly stabbing the 14-year-old girl multiple times last weekend.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said Radebe arrived at the girl's home last Sunday at 03:00, looking for his ex-girlfriend. He found the teenager sleeping at her Bohlokong home. Her sister was not home.
"It is alleged that the suspect then went on and stabbed the victim all over the body with a sharp object, accusing her of hiding her sister. She sustained multiple stab wounds," Makhele said.
The girl was recovering in the intensive care unit.
Makhele said the case was postponed to 24 September for a bail application and so that Radebe can secure legal aid.
