A man who allegedly jumped off a Cape Town bridge onto a busy highway has yet to be identified.
Western Cape police on Thursday said a culpable homicide case had been opened following the incident on Wednesday afternoon.
City of Cape Town traffic services spokesperson Maxine Bezuidenhout said the man jumped off the bridge in Hindle Road onto the R300 south at about 14:00.
He was hit by a car and died at the scene, she confirmed.
Traffic was diverted along the left and right shoulders past the scene, and the highway was reopened at 18:30.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed the incident.
"The deceased man is unidentified at this stage," she said.
