If left unchecked, the insurgency in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province could become a launching pad for further criminal activities in the area, according to Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

This according to her response to a parliamentary question by ANC MP and chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence Cyril Xaba.
