Durban – Despite the welcome rain relief over parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Umgeni Water spokesperson Shami Harichunder urged people to continue saving water.

"The rains are welcome, but we still urge everyone to continue to implement water saving methods. Dam levels remain low, with rainfall for this year below the average ordinarily received during this time of year."

More rains were expected going into the weekend and Monday in the drought-stricken province, the South African Weather Service's (SAWS) Lulama Phene said. Rainfall of at least 77.4 mm was recorded between Tuesday and Wednesday.
