Eight of the 10 members of the Johannesburg mayoral committee have been announced.
On Thursday evening, newly-elected Joburg Mayor Thapelo Amad appointed eight mayoral committee members (MMCs) to be sworn in on Monday.
He said the remaining two members needed to be sworn in as councillors before they could become MMCs.
Amad confirmed that the Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy president, Kenny Kunene, will be sworn in as a councillor.

In a statement on Thursday, Amad said the new MMCs were selected after “extensive consultations with other political parties, with the aim of solidifying the government of local unity (GLU) [the new name for the coalition] partnership in the City”.
The councillors appointed as MMCs are as follows:
- Finance: Cllr. Dada Morero
- Group Corporate and Shared Services: Cllr. Loyiso Masuku
- Environment and Infrastructure Services: Cllr. Jack Sekwaila
- Public Safety: Cllr. Sepetlele Raseruthe
- Development Planning: Cllr. Eunice Mgcina
- Economic Development: Cllr. Nomoya Daphney Mnisi
- Housing: Cllr. Anthea Natasha Leitch
Community Development: Cllr Lubabalo Magwentshu
“In the interest of drawing from the pool of skills which exist outside of council, the executive mayor indicated that he intends to appoint two more individuals to his mayoral committee [on Friday], once they have been sworn in as councillors,” Amad said.
