Vanderbijlpark – A newborn baby was found dead in a dustbin along DF Malan Drive in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday, paramedic services said.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics from ER24 were alerted to the incident just after 17:00.

“When they arrived on scene an elderly man indicated that he noticed the newborn baby boy lying in one of the dustbins. On further inspection, paramedics found the baby. Sadly, it appears as if the baby has been in the bin and dead for some time.”

Wermaak said the police were following up on the matter.
