  • Juandré Kidson's family from North West is considering getting a private investigator to investigate his murder.
  • Kidson was killed on the N4 in Brits and his wife shot at while the attackers tried to take their daughter.
  • The family is offering R100 000 for information of the killers.

The family of murdered Juandré Kidson is considering getting a private investigator to track down his killers.

It’s been over a month since Kidson was brutally killed in front of his wife and daughter while travelling on the N4 in North West.

The family say they are still trying to deal with his death.

Speaking to News24, Marco Kidson said waiting on the police to provide updates of their investigation into his brother’s murder has been very daunting and stressful.

“My family is still dealing with the loss of my brother. His wife’s wounds are healing nicely after the attackers also shot her while they tried to take my niece from her. My sister-in-law is taking each day as it comes, but the memory of how her husband was killed still lives in her head daily,” he said.

The family said two private investigation companies have since reached out to them after reading about their ordeal in the media.

“They have approached us offering their services, but till today we have not received any update from the companies, which has been disappointing as we had a little bit of hope that maybe they might find the killers.”

He said the family has also started to lose faith in the local police.

“We are looking at getting our own private investigators into this investigation because we want to see the killers caught and jailed. What they have done to us as a family has left us heartbroken and traumatised for the rest of our lives. My brother did not deserve to die in such a heinous way."

The family is offering a R100 000 reward for any information that will lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of the three men accused of killing Kidson. If no information is given, they will use the money for an investigator.

"Getting a PI company costs a lot of money,” said Kidson's brother.

The family said they wanted the police to do more to protect communities on the N4.

“How many people must still die on these roads before police catch a wake-up call? We think serious measures must be put in place to curb the influx of crime that happened on the N4; these attackers cannot do what they please with road users and then continue to get away with it,” said Marco.

He said his brother was a well-known businessman in the area who owned a water company which delivers water to different parts of the province.

North West police spokesperson Captain Aafje Bothma said the investigation is still ongoing.

"We can confirm that police are still investigating the case of murder, and no arrests have yet been made,” he said.
