
A fire broke out at Clairwood Hospital in Durban on Tuesday morning.
According to KwaZulu-Natal health department spokesperson, Ntokozo Maphisa, patients from the affected ward were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.
The fire department responded and the blaze was contained.
No injuries were reported from staff and patients.
Maphisa said the department was waiting for a report from the emergency services and engineers, but the fire was believed to have been started by a "a piece of equipment".
