Port Elizabeth - A group of 70 policewomen joined forces to hold a roadblock on the N2 near the Baywest Shopping Mall in Port Elizabeth.
A total of 27 fines with an estimated value of R19 000 were issued and eight illegal immigrants were detained.
Also, two unroadworthy vehicles were impounded and two suspects were also arrested by female investigators from the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) during a suspect tracing operation.
The roadblock was held on Friday.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Major General Siganga was the commander of the operation.
They consisted of Mount Road and Motherwell clusters.
The roadblock also included women from other law enforcement such as, metro police, local and provincial traffic and Department of Home Affairs.
In a separate incident, South African Police Services tweeted on Saturday the Uitenhage Cluster high density operation in Kwanobuhle issued 15 traffic fines.
