Police investigating Cape Town hotel owner shooting

Cape Town – Western Cape police are investigating the death of a man who has been identified in the media as a Cape Flats hotel owner and suspected 28s gang leader.

A 34-year-old man was shot and killed in Halt Road, Elsies River, around 15:00 on Tuesday, provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut, said on Wednesday.

The alleged killers fled in a white Ford Bantam.

A woman who was with him at the time was wounded and taken to hospital in critical condition.

Traut said their names were being withheld to protect the woman.

The Daily Voice however identified the victim as Victor “Fox” Bouwer, owner the Reo Hotel in Halt Road. It reported that he was shot in the face and chest while sitting in his silver Jaguar, parked at a scrapyard opposite the hotel.

Traut said the shooting was being investigated and that the motive was still unknown.
