With the academic year set to kick off on Monday, provinces say they have done all that is necessary to comply with Covid-19 protocols to ensure a smooth opening.

This week, News24 spoke to education departments in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State who all said various strategies have been put in place for Covid-19.

"We are transferring funds to schools to top up their remaining Covid-19 health and hygiene essentials in time to have a smooth reopening process. There are buffer supplies in our warehouse to support schools that might have shortages while in the process of procuring top-up supplies," said Limpopo education spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene.
