A Durban man has become a multi-millionaire after taking home R35.1 million from a wager of R100.

The Chatsworth man is the second in KwaZulu-Natal to become a multi-millionaire in just under two weeks after he won the Lotto Plus 1 jackpot, following Wednesday's draw.

The pensioner is a recently retired salesman, who is described as a devoted family man who just started to enjoy his time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

"This is really unexpected. I am truly surprised," the 69-year-old man said.

"It came at the right time since it is December, and all the festivities are beginning.

"As I have just found out, I need time to let this sink in. I have no immediate major plans for my winnings."

National lottery operator Ithuba said in a statement on Saturday that the ticket was bought via the Absa banking app.

The winner used the quick pick selection.

The winning numbers were: 01, 29, 36, 40, 42, 45, and a Bonus Ball of 31.
