Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said protesters were complaining about a lack of electricity.

Provincial road and the K43 Highway are blocked. Motorists were advised to use Lawley road as an alternative route.

Minnaar said Chris Hani road, Colliender road and Diepkloof have also been blocked.

Motorists should use Elias Motswaledi road, Randshow road or the Golden Highway to enter or exit Soweto.
