Saturday's weather: Cold, wet conditions for Eastern Cape, Western Cape

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for damaging wind and waves between Cape Columbine and Coffee Bay, spreading to Richards Bay in the afternoon.

Cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the interior of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape and Namakwa District as well as the south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape and Free State until Saturday.

The weather in your region: 

Gauteng will be fine and cold but cool in the north. The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

It will be fine and cool in Mpumalanga, but warm on the Lowveld.

Cool conditions are expected over the central parts of Limpopo, otherwise it will be fine and warm.

The North West will be fine, windy and cool to warm, but cold in the south-west.

Partly cloudy conditions will prevail over the southern parts of the Free State until early afternoon, otherwise fine, windy and cold.

It will be fine in the extreme north-east of the Northern Cape, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool, but cold over the southern interior. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, but strong in the late afternoon.

The Western Cape will be cloudy and cold with isolated morning showers in the west but scattered in the extreme south-east.

It will become partly cloudy in the west from late morning and over the north-eastern interior during the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly to south-westerly along the south coast reaching gale force in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly to southerly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is low.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be cloudy and cold with scattered showers south of the Darlington Dam, otherwise isolated showers.

Snow is expected over high-lying areas. The wind along the coast will be gale force south-westerly, becoming strong in the afternoon.

The eastern half of the Eastern Cape will be cloudy and cold with scattered showers south of the Winterberg, otherwise isolated showers.

Snow is expected over the high-lying grounds where cold conditions are expected.

The wind along the coast will be strong south-westerly, reaching gale force west of the Kei River in the morning.

Morning fog will occur over the north-western interior of KwaZulu-Natal, otherwise it will be fine to partly cloudy and cold but cool to warm in the east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly to north-westerly, becoming fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly from the south by late morning and reaching near gale in the afternoon.
