  • Police are investigating a case of murder.

A Durban man has been shot and killed in his home in Wentworth after two men barged into his flat, police said on Friday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said officers had responded to a complaint of a shooting in Woodville Road just after 20:00.

"It is alleged that a 22-year-old victim was at his place of residence when two suspects alighted from a white vehicle and entered his flat. Numerous shots were fired before they fled the scene. The victim was declared dead on the scene and the motive for the attack is unknown."

A case of murder has been opened at Wentworth SAPS for further investigation.

Last week, another Durban man was killed in his home in Verulam in the Ezakheni area.

At the time, Gwala said it was alleged that the 33-year-old victim was at his place of residence when he was accosted by an unknown gunman who fatally shot him in the head and fled the scene.

"The victim was declared dead on the scene."

Gwala said the motive for the attack was unknown and that Verulam police were investigating.
