While fires rage on in Cape Town and emergency services battle blazes around the clock, it has been revealed that KwaZulu-Natal's firefighting capacity has heavy shortfalls. It lacks over 550 firefighters.

KZN, the second most populated province in SA, with over 11 million people, has a shortfall of 583 firefighters.
