Port Elizabeth – A teenage girl was shot in the face and hand when four men tried to steal her mother’s car by carrying it away in Greenfields, Port Elizabeth.
The men arrived at the family’s home in Mjiba Street around 01:00 on Tuesday morning and started shouting at the family, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans told Netwerk24.
"They wanted the keys for the Toyota that was parked in the yard."
The woman pretended not to know who the car belonged to. The men then picked the car up and carried it out of the yard.
"The woman heard a loud bang and went to investigate. She found her 13-year-old daughter with bullet wounds in the face and hand," Labans said.
The car thieves ran away and the girl was rushed to hospital for treatment.
No arrests had been made.
