
Three people have appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate's Court in KwaZulu-Natal for allegedly breaking into a Transnet goods container and stealing DVD players worth R67 000.
Wander Nkadimeng, 35, Monwabisi Siphambo, 34, and Jack Xolisi, 30, appeared in court on Monday on charges of theft.
"It is alleged that on 21 October 2020 a goods train was blocked at the Ennersdale area in Estcourt where a container was broken into. A number of boxes containing Digimark digital video disc players valued at R67 000 were stolen," Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Philani Nkwalase said.
The case was reported to the Estcourt police station.

The stolen items were recovered by the Wembezi police and were positively identified by Transnet.
"The Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Pietermaritzburg conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspects. They were charged with theft and were remanded in custody until 8 April 2021 for trial preparation at the regional court," Nkwalase added.
