Police in Limpopo have launched a 72-hour activation plan after three people were killed in a mob attack.
The three men were "brutally killed" in Ga-Maila a Mapitsana in the Sekhukhune policing area on Monday, said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
"Community members of this village allegedly kidnapped four men [in the early hours of Monday] and accused them of stealing their livestock. They then killed three men using an assortment of hard objects. The fourth victim managed to escape from the mob unhurt," said Mojapelo.
The victims have been identified as Jikisa Phokane, 50, Kwena Makwana, 70, and Sedibana Makwana. Makwana's age is unknown.
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe declared the 72-hour activation plan to hunt down the murderers.

"A team of investigators has already been assembled, and all the relevant resources and the neighbouring police stations in the Sekhukhune district have been activated to assist in the hunt," said Hadebe.
"These acts of vigilantism and lawlessness will not be tolerated, and the police will not rest until all the perpetrators are brought to book," Hadebe added.
Mojapelo requested anyone with information to contact Colonel Mahlathini Ngele on 082 573 3645, Crime Stop on 0860010111, the My SAPS app or their nearest police.
