The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 2 warning of severe thunderstorms over much of Gauteng, the extreme southern parts of Limpopo, central and western interior of KwaZulu-Natal and the Highveld as well as the escarpment of Mpumalanga.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Khai-Ma Municipality in the Northern Cape.

The weather in your region:

Gauteng will be cloudy and cool, with scattered showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

It will be cloudy in the east of Mpumalanga, with drizzle and morning fog along the escarpment.

Otherwise, the province will be partly cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated on the northern Lowveld.

Cloudy conditions will prevail in the east of Limpopo, with drizzle and morning fog along the escarpment.

There will be isolated showers in the central and eastern parts.

The North West will be cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The Free State will be cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the south-west.

It will be partly cloudy and hot to scorching, with isolated thundershowers in the east of the Northern Cape.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong north of Hondeklip Bay from late afternoon.

It will be partly cloudy and warm to hot, with morning fog along the west coast of the Western Cape.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly north of Betty's Bay, otherwise light to moderate southerly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

The south coast of the Eastern Cape will be cloudy.

Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the centre of the province.

The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly.

The eastern half of the province will be partly cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be moderate northerly to north-easterly in the north at first, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.
