"They also take the victims with them and drop them off in another location," Mahamba said.

He said most incidents were reported in Pretoria East.
"[The] TMPD would like to emphasise that these are not TMPD officers, but criminals impersonating officers. The TMPD, however, does have operational unmarked vehicles. Motorists are urged to be vigilant," Mahamba said.
He also added that when stopped by people in a suspicious unmarked vehicle, motorists should drive to a safe area or the nearest police station.
Motorists also have a right to ask the officer to present an appointment card, he said.
"The Tshwane Metro Police Department is working very hard to apprehend these criminals. We urge members of the public to work together with the police."
Mahamba also urged the public to report any suspicious activity to the TMPD on 082 891 2498/ 082 320 1757, or to contact the nearest police station.
