WATCH: Chaos as police fire rubber bullets at foreign nationals in Kempton Park

Cape Town - Police have fired stun grenades and rubber bullets at protesters in Kempton Park following the death of a Nigerian national while in police custody.

A man believed to be a Nigerian national died in a police van in Kempton Park on Saturday, with police accused of suffocating him, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) confirmed.

Police say the man overdosed on drugs he swallowed as he was arrested.

Several people have sustained minor injuries and two others sustained moderate to serious injuries according to Netcare.
