The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms over the north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Kareeberg and Ubuntu local municipalities of the Northern Cape, as well as the Beaufort West Local Municipality in the Western Cape.

The weather in your region:

Gauteng will be cloudy and cool, with scattered showers and thundershowers. It will be warm in the north.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

Morning fog will occur along the Mpumalanga escarpment.

The province will be cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated showers over the northern Lowveld.

Fog will occur along the Limpopo escarpment.

The province will be cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered showers in the south.

Cloudy and warm conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers will prevail in the North West.

It will be cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers in the Free State.

The Northern Cape will be fine and cool to warm in the extreme west, with morning fog along the coast.

Otherwise, the province will be partly cloudy and hot to scorching, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered showers in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly at first, otherwise fresh.

It will be cloudy and cool with morning fog patches along the Western Cape coast.

Otherwise, the province will be partly cloudy and warm, but hot over the extreme north-eastern parts.

A chance of light rain is expected over the extreme south-eastern parts during the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south to westerly to south-westerly, becoming strong north of Cape Columbine in the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy and hot to scorching, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the south coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

It will be fine and warm to hot with morning fog south of the escarpment, becoming cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly in the afternoon.

Morning fog patches will occur over the KwaZulu-Natal interior.

The province will be partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers. It will be hot in places in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly, but strong north of Richard's Bay.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.
