Cape Town – Parents who have not yet found schools for their children should contact their nearest district office as soon as possible, Western Cape Education MEC Debbie Schäfer said on Monday.
Parents still struggling with school placements needed to register their children urgently before the start of school on Wednesday.
This, however, did not mean they would be guaranteed a place in their school of choice. She said they would try to speed up the process.
"The fact that their child has been enrolled late has not afforded us the opportunity to plan in advance, as we have done for other learners that enrolled early last year."
Given that the Western Cape had come out tops in the 2015 matric exam results, they expected more learners to flock to the province in search of "quality" education, she said.
She did not know how many learners would need to be placed.
