While the mulling over of localised Covid-19 restrictions in the Western Cape continues, Premier Alan Winde says he is still seeking legal advice on what is possible, but his party bosses have warned that so far, there is no evidence that "generalised lockdowns" slow the spread of the disease.
The DA has been categorically against any lockdown and, if Winde opts for that route, it would be in defiance of his party.
DA leader John Steenhuisen said, even if Winde were to decide for a "mini-lockdown", under the national state of disaster it was impossible for the DA-led Western Cape government to implement its own initiatives at large.
