Light showers and thundershowers are forecast for Friday, according to the South African Weather Service.

A high fire danger warning has been issued for the Northern Cape.

Fire danger warning 

- Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

The weather in your province

It will be partly cloudy and warm in Gauteng, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

Mpumalanga can expect morning fog patches on the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

It will be hot over the lowveld.

There will be morning fog patches over the escarpment in Limpopo, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

In the North West, it will be fine in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

The Free State will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

In the Northern Cape, it will be cloudy in the west at first, with morning fog in the north-western parts, otherwise fine and cool.

It will be partly cloudy and warm to hot in the east, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. 

Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over the north-eastern parts.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly, becoming fresh to strong by the afternoon.

Conditions in the Western Cape will be partly cloudy and cool to warm, otherwise cloudy, with isolated showers and rain along the south-western parts and the south coast. It will clear from the west by the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly along the south coast at first, otherwise light to moderate southerly to south-easterly, becoming fresh to strong in the Betty's Bay area in the afternoon. It will spread to Plettenberg Bay by the evening. 

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

In the western half of the Eastern Cape, there will be morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and rain in the east and south.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly at first, otherwise moderate south-westerly, becoming fresh easterly by the afternoon.

The eastern half of the Eastern Cape can expect morning fog south of the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east and along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be fresh north-easterly north of Coffee Bay at first, otherwise fresh to strong south-westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy in the afternoon, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme south-west.

The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
